New treatments and prevention of sexual diseases using nanotechnology

Thanks to a group of scientists and researchers from Yale University, have developed a new treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

According to researchers, this new breakthrough could eventually lead to methods give much safer and easier to use, as antimicrobial ointments be simple achieved where the person shall apply in its own way as an HIV prevention or treatment.

Basically, what this team of experts has done has been the burden of nanoparticles derived from a biodegradable polymer known as PLGA which has the ability to free siRNA (small interfering RNA molecules that silence genes), inhibiting safely and complete the function they perform ETS genes.

“The RNAi represents a promising approach to the prevention and treatment of diseases in humans. We wanted to develop a new management strategy siRNA with a material approved by the FDA. ”

There are still steps to be taken and details to finalize, but where there is no doubt that we stand before a door full of promising new possibilities when talking about sexually transmitted diseases.

So far the researchers say that working with this new method significantly boosts security against this type of disease, even surpass the current lipid known methods.
