Nanotechnology to fight cancer

The Medical Oncology Service Hospital Clinico Universitario in Zaragoza project is developing a nanotechnology to fight cancer, as will be discussed today at the Conference on Nanomedicine, held in the hospital.

Nanomedicine This project is still very experimental stage, but fit much hope that the application of radiation with a laser-heated nanoparticles in tumors to prevent the development ends up being an effective method.

When nanoparticles much smaller than the cells can have better access to the area where treatment is intended to acting from inside the body and directly to the cellular level, as noted Victor Calleja, Health Sector Manager Zaragoza III.

Still, however, remains to be done, as Ricardo Ibarra director of the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragon (INA): Much progress is being made in implementing these technologies in vivo, in animal begins to be a difficulty, but getting to the clinic is a step even more difficult and that is where we need to make a breakthrough.
