Found a possible cause of genetic predisposition to cancer colon
An international team of scientists, among which are some belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones CientÃficas ( CSIC ) and the National Center for Research Cardiovascular, have found a new molecular cause of genetic predisposition cancer colon. This is the conclusion I have drawn in the study, published in the journal PLoS Genetics.
The experiments, conducted in mice, frogs and fish, have served to researchers to find, in DNA, a region non- coding, near the gene EIF3h, Which is able to regulate. Although it was known that this region is associated with risk of cancer colorectal has been now when they have found that the mutation in the region coding results in increased levels of expression of this gene, unable to regulate negatively. This fact is associated with increased invasiveness of tumor cells .
This study is an example of efforts being made by the scientific community to find the genetic causes that confer susceptibility to various diseases. It is considered that these investigations will lead . in the future, to find a possible treatment against them .
