Conference on Nanomedicine

On 2-3 December 2010, experts from around the world will gather for the conference NanoMed 7th (7th Congress NanoMed), to be held in Berlin to discuss the latest advances in biomedical applications of nanotechnology. This year the theme of focus are the diagnosis and treatment of cancer with nanotechnology.

Therefore, the understanding of disease mechanisms and development of new diagnostic tools and therapeutic approaches is one of the main challenges for research in modern medicine. Nanotechnology can provide a range of new weapons against this deadly enemy: a new generation of biosensors specific, innovative imaging techniques, treatment of tumors by hyperthermia, the administration of gene-targeted drugs based on nanoparticles and fototermia name a few. About a third of the lectures and contributions from NanoMed 2010 will be devoted to this subject.

Beyond the main theme, the scope of the conference covers the full range of medical applications of nanotechnology, including, among others, drug delivery, routing and controlled release of drugs, innovative dental materials, and diagnostic techniques nanobioanalytical based thereon, nanomaterials for implants and regenerative medicine, microbicidal coatings for general hygiene and drug packaging, new contrast agents, the miniaturization of biochips and bioetiquetado with quantum dots.

The rise of nanotechnology has created a heated debate about the possible risks to human health. Numerous research projects are addressing this issue. NanoMed 2010 will provide a platform for presenting recent results in this field and to conduct a debate on this issue in the context of medical applications of nanomaterials.
